Taking care of your contact lenses is easy, but there are some important guidelines you need to follow. The basic routine of soft contact lens care includes cleaning, rinsing and disinfecting.
Wash hands thoroughly so as not to transfer dirt and bacteria to the eyes. Do not use moisturizing soaps as they are not good for contact lenses. Dry your hands with a lint-free towel.
Remove a lens and clean it with a suitable solution. Soft contact lenses require a suitable solution for soft contact lenses, such as the solutions listed on our solutions page.
Cleaning removes debris, protein buildup, cosmetic substances and any other material that may be attached to the lens. It is recommended that you rub the contact lens on your palm with a few drops of solution, even if you are using a non-rubbing solution. Wash the lens again to remove any remaining residue. Washing is an important step that should not be omitted.
Place the lens in your lens case and fill the case with a new solution. You should always replenish your lens case with a new solution instead of adding a new solution on top of the existing solution already in the lens case. Repeat the above procedure for the second lens. Do not expose your contact lenses to tap water, mineral water, distilled water, fresh water or salt water.
You should always follow your ophthalmologist’s advice and directions and should replace your contact lenses according to the calendar given to you by your ophthalmologist. If your eyes become red, itchy or uncomfortable, remove contact lenses immediately and consult your ophthalmologist.
